Morasha Jewish Day School, Santa Margarita, CA

Morasha Jewish Day School in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA is one of eight schools in the nation chosen to participate in a special three-year project called "Jewish Day Schools for the 21st Century," or JDS-21, organized by the Hebrew Union College’s School of Education. As part of the project, the JDS-21 task force and a committee of more than 25 parents and faculty members selected ten core Jewish values that will serve as the school’s guiding principles. The values range from respect and compassion to prayer and education.

An important initiative that resulted from Morasha’s participation in the JDS-21 values-based project was Morasha’s collaboration with San Diego artist, Viviana Lombrozo. Working in partnership with Morasha’s students, Viviana created ten murals, each representing one of the ten core guiding values chosen by the JDS-21 committee. They are on permanent display at the school.
