Air Filter: Port of San Diego Urban Tree 5 Project, San Diego’s Embarcadero, San Diego, CA, 2008
Inspired by San Diego's downtown skyline and by the role that trees play in decreasing pollution and global warming, this sculpture blends organic forms with industrial materials to create filter-like leaves through which air passes. “Air Filter” re-envisions this urban ecology, encouraging us to consider how human and environmental needs can converge.
